The idea

A gift everyone gets to shoot

A film of your own is more than a video. It comes to life in the weeks before – remembering, laughing and plotting with the people who are giving it.

For the ones you celebrate

A film full of inside jokes, favorite stories and running gags – starring them. To laugh at, to be moved by, to watch again and again.

For the ones giving

Dig through old photos together, spin ideas, cast the roles, rate the chapters. The fun starts with the shoot – and brings you closer.

For everyone, ever after

Premiere at the party, later on the sofa, on YouTube or as a link for the whole family. A memory that stays.

You chip in together. You shoot together. And in the end, everyone’s amazed.

How your film comes together

Five steps from photo to premiere

Leo guides you through every stage – like a seasoned producer who asks questions, pitches ideas and keeps an eye on the budget.

Leo asks about stories, quirks and favorite moments – and writes the script with you.

Casting & look test

Looks just like Dad. Really.

A film works when everyone recognizes themselves. That’s why we check your photos as a set, point out what’s missing and do screen tests before the shoot.

Operation Grand Cru

* Shooting costs are what the AI services for your film cost (images, videos, voices, music). You pay them up front as credit – the amount above is an example based on Leo’s estimate; you choose your own amount. You’re charged for what you actually use: the price we actually pay the AI provider for exactly that service, plus a 20% handling fee, including VAT. You see the price before every step. Whatever’s left stays in your account – for your next film – or you can have it paid out. All prices include VAT.

FAQ

Good to know

How do I get started?

Sign up for free in the studio and create your first film: pick the occasion and tell us who plays the lead – then Leo, your AI producer, takes over. He talks length and budget with you, writes the script in conversation and guides you step by step all the way to the premiere. You invite friends and family with a link.

What does a film cost?

You pay the film fee once – depending on length, €9 for up to 1 minute, €29 for up to 5 minutes, €49 for up to 15 minutes. For the shoot, you top up credit: Leo estimates up front roughly what your film will cost – a 5-minute short film needs about €95, so about €124 in total, including the film fee. It’s charged at the real price of the AI services plus a 20% handling fee, including VAT. Whatever’s left stays in your account.

How many photos do you need per person?

Ideally 15 to 20 recent photos: front, angled, in profile and full-length, in daylight and in the evening, with different facial expressions. The casting check shows you what’s still missing from the set.

How long does it take until the premiere?

That mostly depends on you: the script conversation, casting and rating happen at your own pace. After that, the shoot runs chapter by chapter, and you approve every chapter.

Can I use photos of my friends and family?

Yes, with the consent of the people in them. moviefriends helps with an invitation link that lets each person give their own consent. For children, their parents consent.

Who owns the finished film?

Your film is made for you and your celebration – you can download it, share it and give it as a gift. The exact rights of use are set out in our terms and conditions (Section 16, currently in German).

Can we use our own songs, for example from Suno?

Yes. We prepare the title, style and lyrics for you to copy, you create the song with your own Suno subscription and upload it again.

Can the film go on YouTube?

Yes. You get a ready-made YouTube package with title, description, chapters, subtitles and thumbnail. By default we recommend “unlisted”, so only your guests can see the film.
